Independent web design + development / Amherst, Virginia

Good design.
A clear next step.

I’m Kyle Tyree. I design and build distinctive websites for small businesses, with the details people need and a clear way to call, visit, or get in touch.

SELECTED WORK / THREE FICTIONAL CONCEPTS

Different businesses.
Different decisions.

Three complete website concepts, designed around what their visitors need. Fictional businesses, working interactions, and three distinct visual directions. These are demonstrations, not client projects.

01 / Ridgeline Roofing

A clear path from
problem to next step.

The visitor’s need

A homeowner needs to understand a roof problem, compare services, and know how to ask for an estimate.

The design decision

Direct typography, an architectural image, and a practical charcoal-and-orange palette put the service decision first.

Choose a service, filter material inspiration, and preview an estimate request.

02 / Main Street Café

A little neighborhood
personality.

The visitor’s need

A visitor wants to see the menu, check opening hours, and decide whether to stop by.

The design decision

Warm yellow, playful editorial type, and varied photography create a lively identity. Menu and visit details stay within easy reach on a phone.

Browse five linked pages, explore sample prices and hours, and try the local-only contact form.

03 / Main Street Table

An evening worth
making time for.

The visitor’s need

A guest wants to explore the food, plan a table, or put together a takeout order.

The design decision

Deep burgundy, dramatic food photography, and a centered opening set an evening mood. The menu becomes the practical center of the experience.

Filter the menu, calculate a sample cart, and preview a reservation. No bookings or orders are made.

Stock photographs in the concepts are credited to their creators on each demo. No customer results, reviews, or business credentials are implied.

How it works

Know what happens next.

1

Tell me what you need

Share your business, current website, and what you want customers to do. We’ll work out the fit, scope, and price.

2

Review the website

I build the agreed pages. You review the design, wording, and details before anything goes live.

3

Launch with a clear plan

We check the site together and confirm how hosting, future changes, and support will work.

Hi, I’m Kyle.

Your developer is right here in Amherst.

I’ve worked across IT, databases, and web development, and I’ve been a full-stack software developer since 2022. Now I’m also helping local businesses build a useful home online.

You’ll work directly with me, from the first conversation through launch. I’ll explain the choices, ask for your input, and give you a website to review before it goes live.

I do this alongside my full-time development work, so we’ll agree on timing and support availability before starting.

Fair questions

Good things to ask.

I already have a Facebook page. Would a website help?

It depends on what your customers need. A website gives you a dedicated place for services, menus, hours, and inquiries that you can link from Facebook, your business listing, and printed materials. I’ll help you decide whether that would be useful for your business.

How much will the whole project cost?

The standard package is $500 setup plus a required $50/month plan from launch. Custom features and approved extras are quoted separately. See the full scope and payment details.

What does the $50 monthly plan cover?

Hosting, one domain costing up to $25/year, website maintenance, and one hour of content edits each month without rollover. The plan is month-to-month. Extra edits cost $50/hour in 15-minute increments, with your approval first.

How long does a website take?

The target is 2–4 weeks after receiving your deposit and required content. We agree on the date before work starts; delayed feedback or added scope can move it.

What do I need to provide?

Provide your business details, services or menu, photos, and logo. I draft and polish the wording from those details. New branding and custom features are quoted separately.

Can you update an existing website?

Send me the link and explain what isn’t working for you. I’ll review whether changes to the current site or a rebuild make sense before proposing work.

Are the example websites real businesses?

No. They are complete demonstration websites for fictional businesses. You can browse every page and try the forms, but those forms do not send or save information.

Can you set up business email?

Yes. Google Workspace setup is $100 for a straightforward new account with up to three users. You own the account and pay Google directly. Existing email migration is quoted separately. Email setup details

What happens if I cancel?

Cancel before your next billing date. Service continues through the paid period, then your new provider can take over your domain and paid-for website files. Before launch, service payments are refundable, excluding approved, nonrefundable third-party purchases. Cancellation and handoff details

Let’s talk about your business

Start with what you have in mind.

A new website, an outdated one, or just a question about where to start. Tell me a little about the business and I’ll follow up about the next step.

Not sure what to say?

These three details are enough to get started:

  1. Your business name and what you do.
  2. Your website or Facebook page, if you have one.
  3. What you’d like customers to do: call, visit, request a quote, or something else.

You don’t need a technical brief or a finished plan.
